Sports and Physical Activities:

Ugyen Academy boasts of an exemplary sports culture.  It is the only school to offer scholarships to students who excel in extracurricular activities – sports, games, literary, cultural… Additionally, for talented students we provide special coaching in Football, Futsal, Basketball, Swimming, Badminton, Cricket, Table Tennis, Archery, Taekwando and Chess. It is again the only school to own an astro turf mini stadium with night lighting facilities for promotion of football that which is usually used by classes VII, VIII & IX. We also conduct Annual Swimming Gala.

Literary Programme and Life Long Learning

The school also conducts Literary Activities to foster passion for lifelong learning. Events such as:

• Literary Fest apart from everyday reading programme
• Declamation
• Poetry Week
• Drama Festival

are conducted to develop competency in both Dzongkha and English.

 

To encourage and demystify “mind sets” on so called difficult subjects, we have co-curricular activities such as:

• Mathematics Olympiad
• Science Fair
• Subject Exhibition
• Socrates Seminar

Apart from the usual merit certificates, UA has “Be Your Best” Award(s) in order to keep motivating our students at all times and more importantly after they graduate from UA.

 

• In addition to the RGoB’s ex-country Educational Programme in scouting and other academic activities (mainly in India, Thailand and Japan), UA also has lot of exchange educational programmes with International Schools (Mathematics Olympiad - City Montessori School, Lucknow, India; City Montessori School, Kanpur, “Relativity: Science Fest”, Lamatrinie, Kolkota, Canadian International School, Hongkong).
