Homage to the "ku-fung"

Academic staff members get the opportunity to pay homage to the “Ku-fung”

In the evening the 2nd batch of 70 students go to Wolokha to chant payers.

Special Prayer conducted in the school prayer hall led by Lopen Rinzin Wangdi and Lopen Sonam Penjor (Tungsha, Zangchoed Melom, Kinzang Melam, Maha Guru and Kema Kuehu). Butter lamp offerings.

Our founder passes away

Our Yab Dasho Ugyen Dorji passed away peacefully in the early hours on the 8th day of the 3rd month of the Female Earth Pig Year at his residence in Punakha, in the presence of His Holiness the Je Khenpo, who conducted Phowa. His Eminence Gyalse Trulku, senior monks of the Dratshang, Yum Thuji Zam and his family members were also present. Yab Dasho Ugyen Dorji was 94.

Principal visits Hon’ble Yab residence, meets the Proprietor of the school Dasho Sonam Topgay Dorji  and get the opportunity to prostrate in front of the “Ku-fung”

Her Majesty The Royal Queen Mother's visit

Her Majesty The Royal Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck visits the school and awards badges to the student leaders. Her Majesty also acknowledges the staff and students for the good work and inspires all to keep up the good work.

Annual Cross country Race

Ugyen Academy for the first time conducts the Annual Cross Country Race instead of Annual School Marathon.

SIESA Volleyball Champion ship

Ugyen Academy Volleyball Team (Men) wins the National Open SIESA Championship, Thimphu, conducted by Bhutan Volleyball Federation.

Return Show

The freshmen expressed their appreciation and paid token of gratitude to the senior students for the grand welcome. Special appearances by Sonam Wangchen (UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador), Sonam Dema (Druk Superstar Top 3: 2018), and Young Superstar Jamyang (Class VIII) made our day.

His Majesty visits UA

Our King granted an Audience to the 1015 students and 58 teachers. It was a precious opportunity for the UA family to hear from Our Majesty on the following three things:

  1.       Purpose of Education /School
  2.       Importance of Reading and
  3.       To Serve the Nation

Birth Anniversary of our beloved King

Ugyen Academy family joins the nation in celebrating the birth anniversary of our beloved king, His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck. The National Academic Toppers, Child Author Tseyang, and the exemplary student Pelyan who returned a bag containing huge amount of cash to RBP were all honoured by Dasho Dzongda.
